We urge you to remain vigilant against fraudulent messages regarding Reward Point Redemption that are being circulated to target Deutsche Bank customers. These are designed to look genuine and are intended to deceive you into sharing sensitive information or clicking on suspicious links. Stay alert to the following scam pattern:

How the scam works

The hook:

You receive an SMS with a malicious link claiming you have unclaimed reward points.

The trap

The link leads to a fake website resembling the official Deutsche Bank page and prompts you to click Send Message via WhatsApp.

The malware

On WhatsApp, you are asked to download an .apk file, which contains malicious software.

The theft

After installation, the app tricks users into providing sensitive information such as Aadhaar number combined with Debit Card PIN or OTP giving fraudsters full access to your account. Installing any unknown app or sharing an OTP can result in immediate account compromise.

Safe Banking Guidelines

Never download apps from links:

Download banking apps only from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Check SMS headers:

Genuine Deutsche Bank messages follow TRAI-mandated formats (e.g.,VM-DBAIrt-S) and end with –T (Transactional) or –S (Service).
Avoid .apk files:

Deutsche Bank will never ask you to install an .apk file via WhatsApp or SMS.
Report fraud immediately:
