- Fraudsters pose as officials through calls, emails, SMS or video, creating panic with threats to steal information, get victims to download apps or transfer money.
How to protect yourself
- Never share OTPs, passwords or account details
- Do not download unknown apps or click on suspicious links
- Verify numbers and email IDs before responding
- Stay calm when you receive threatening messages as fraudsters rely on panic to deceive
